EYELASH EXTENSIONS AND TREATMENT
Semi-permanent lashes, also known as individual eyelash extensions, are eyelashes applied with a FDA approved adhesive with a stronger bond. Generally, a single lash is applied to each natural lash. When applied properly, neither the extension lash nor the glue should touch the eyelid. The bond is designed to last until the lashes naturally fall out, though the extensions may fall out faster if one uses oil-based eye makeup remover or rubs eyes regularly, as oil weakens the bond between the glue and the lash.
Eyelash extensions create eyelashes that remain on for approximately 2-4 weeks with their natural growth and shedding cycle. To keep the eyelashes full, one must maintain them within a 2 to 4 week time frame. Eyelash extensions are waterproof and give the appearance of having mascara on without the messy clumps and smudging of makeup.
Eyelash extensions come in various lengths, colors and thicknesses, from natural-looking, to glamorous, as well as dramatic.
FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
1. How does the lash extension process work?
Each lash is isolated and an extension is placed on the lash. The procedure can take up to 1.5-2 hours to complete depending on how many lashes you have and how full that you want them. After completing your consent form, we review what you may be looking for in a lash set (please keep in mind that eye shape, lash health, how many lashes you have will determine a certain "look"); meaning one look you see on someone else might not fit you.
2. What should I do BEFORE coming in for this service?
Please remove all eye make-up (mascara, liner, eyeshadow, brow makeup) before you come in for this service. Be prepared to take a little nap up to 2 hours (depending on the look) with eyes closed and an eyepad/tape separating the lower lashes from the upper lashes.
3. How long does lash extensions last?
Your natural lashes shed daily. You don't really notice it because the lashes are really small. You will notice this with lash extensions on. You CANNOT stop the shedding process no matter what type of adhesive you use, this is a natural process. EACH of your lashes has a growth pattern, a beginning and ending phase. All lashes don't shed at the same time...you can lose 3 daily, or 13 or more lashes daily. This is why lash fills every 2-3 weeks are very important to keep them full looking.
4. Tell me about the lash fill-ins.
If you want to continue with your lash extension sets, it is suggested that you get fills every 2-3 weeks. IN ORDER TO QUALIFY FOR THE LASH FILLS, YOU MUST HAVE AT LEAST 50% OF LASH EXTENSIONS REMAINING. Waiting longer than the 2-3 week period may result in starting over to a full set. If you want an upgrade to a fuller set from the last one, there will be a price adjustment. PLEASE COME IN WITH CLEAN LASHES OR AN EXTRA FEE WILL BE ASSESED (if I have to clean them). You must handle your lashes with care.
5. What is the maintenance with this service?
Your lashes must be kept cleaned on a daily basis using a water based cleanser. All makeup used around the eyes should be water based for the longevity of your lashes. Keeping fill in appointments is important to keep them full looking.
6. Can mascara be used for my lash extensions?
Even Though I feel that mascara isn't needed, only a water based mascara can be used for your extensions.
7. Do you do lash fills for other lash techs?
At the present, I don't do fills for other techs.
